All of the photos displayed in this gallery were created between the early 1970's and recent years.
Having experience in digital image editing, I altered some of my photographs in various ways to produce more interesting variations of the originals. Some photos are made up of elements from more than one photograph.
In the mid 1970's my collection of creative landscapes and nature photography was exhibited at the Berkshire Museum and then at the former First Agricultural Bank. During that time period I received several ribbons for photographs I entered in competitions regularly held by the Berkshire Museum's Camera Club.
Unfortunately, by the time I learned about computers and digital cameras, hundreds of my early 35mm negatives and slides had deteriorated from decades of storage and were no longer in good enough condition to convert to digital images. My best work was lost forever.

In this gallery you will see Pittsfield people doing their thing and going about their business in a time when things were much different.
No cell phones, no computers, cheap gas, much less traffic and a much lower crime rate made life simpler, safer and more down to earth.
With no malls and not many big stores around, North Street was then the place to be especially during the warm months. People regularly filled the street to shop, dine, go to a movie or just hang out with friends. Stores were open until 9pm on Thursday nights, which was also "Cruise Night". Many of us drove up and down North Street to show off our cool cars or to just be part of the crowd.
The 70's was a special time and a great experience that will only be known, remembered and appreciated by those of us who were part of that generation.
